The Drupal IRC channels provide a community oriented way to get (and give) free Drupal support over the Internet, in a chat-like conversation.
The Drupal IRC channels are hosted on FreeNode (http://freenode.net).
The most commonly used Drupal IRC channels are:
#drupal: general discussions
#drupal-support: for support issues
#drupal-themes: for drupal theming questions
#drupal-dev: complex development discussions
#drupal-consultants: find a Drupal consultant
See the Drupal IRC page for a complete list: http://drupal.org/irc.
Basic IRC commands:
/join #drupal
seen <user> => displays last login date
Commonly used Acronyms:
GFGI => Go Freaking Google It
AFAIK => As Far As I Know
Druplicon is an automated bot designed to help automate common tasks on the Drupal IRC channels. Some Druplicon commands: Druplicon: tell message.
Xchat is a good IRC client, but costs $20 to register (free for 1st 30 days).
